To splurge on a tight budget is not that easy but it’s not even impossible. Though it may sound like a dream but seriously we can. All we need is proper planning, a little research and a bit of luck. Here are some tips on how to splurge on a tight budget.
- Get a Free Upgrade: The only way to travel first class with an economy flight ticket is getting a free upgrade. Getting free upgrades is not an easy task but you can increase your chances by joining an airline frequent flyer program and sticking with that airline every time you fly. Do a false booking on the airline website and book a flight where their economy section is already full; by this the airline may squeeze you to first class instead of turning you away as there is so much competition.
- Getting The Best Hotel Deal: Visit the many online travel sites like CheapOair, Hotwire, OneTravel, and Orbitz, to name a few. These online travel sites do really offer excellent deals and package. You can also check out the hotel website. Call the hotel and inquire whether the hotel is offering any discounts. If you are a member of a club or an association like American Automobile Association, ask them whether you can get a special deal or discounts. You may also walk in without any advance reservation and negotiation the rate with the front desk staff, most hotels will give you a discount instead of turning you away, just for the sake of competition.
- Renting a Cheap Rental Car: Who does not love explore a city on a car instead of crowded city buses or underground trains. But unfortunately most of us (budget travelers) can’t afford the luxury of a rental car while traveling. Yet we all can get a cheap rental car that will fit our budget by just booking well in advance, booking through online travel sites or at the rental car company website, as most site offers more discounts to those booking online.

Budget travel really isn't as bad as people make it out to be. I wouldn't travel any other way! It forces you to be more creative and you end up finding some really cool stuff to do. A lot better than spending hundreds of dollars on shows, and things like that. I’m an ambassador for Hampton Inns, I had some info that it seems like you'd be interested in, I thought I’d let you know about it.
Hampton Inn is offering 10% off the best available rate until September 1st. We’re also giving away bikes, vacations and a lot of other stuff for the Olympic Games!
